Exploring the Paris Underground

An article in the Guardian on a newly discovered Paris Underground ampitheater/restaurant is simply amazing. It makes me wonder what other things are hidden underneath our city sidewalks.

Miyazaki Madness!

Hayao Miyazaki is my favorite animation director, probably one of my favorite directors of all time. Although I like many directors, only Miyazaki has not disappointed me at any point in his body of work. According to a yahoo news article Miyazaki's latest work, Howl's Moving Castle, sounds like a winner.

I love how the film sounds like it has real relevance to today's audiences. When talking about animated films, I sometimes feel like I can't talk about them in the same way as non-animated films because others feel are lesser films because they are animated. Public expectation is that animated films are simpler, meant for children. Miyazaki and his Studio Ghibli create sophisticated cinema, viewable by children but with complex themes that adults can appreciate. His films make me think and discuss. They are entertaining, gorgeous, and I'm glad that he hasn't retired from making them.
